Galatians 2:20 (NLT) - “My old self has been crucified with Christ.[a] It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

Mark 10:21-22 - ESV) - “And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” 22 Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.”

Message

Followers of Jesus are His disciples. Our work after salvation is discipleship. This implies learning from Jesus and following His example. I used to hear in earlier Christian messages that to be a Jesus disciple meant to “count the cost” before agreeing to embark on that quest. I heard that to follow and imitate Jesus could cost us our lives. Some have already paid that price and continue to do so in places like China, Nigeria, Afghanistan, and others. I haven’t heard that message in churches in a long time, especially in mega churches. Everyone wants to hear messages about power and wealth transfers and elevation. While all those things are possible, the first thing we must do is to die to our ambitions and desires. The rich young man that wanted to follow Jesus was unwilling to settle this one thing in his heart. If he had done that first, who knows if the Lord would have allowed him to keep his possessions anyway, perhaps for the sake of the work of God’s Kingdom. Settling this one thing in our heart comes first. What happens after that depends on God’s particular calling on your life. Jesus asked us to spread His Good News of salvation and to make disciples. How? You can share your testimony with others, such as how you got saved. You can do it through social media, pass out Gospel tracts, tell anyone who is willing to listen. Share a Bible study with someone else who is eager to learn about Jesus. Join a prayer group with other “disciples.” From today’s scriptures, we can see that anyone can label themselves a “Christian,” but not everyone is willing to become a disciple. This is a super important message for all pastors who watch over God’s lambs. It’s not about filling up a building, it’s what happens after new believers begin their journey with Jesus.

Scriptures

Fast N’ Pray 2026 - Here I am Lord! - Jan. 15, 2026

God’s love connection

The entire epistle of I John - God’s love is the foundation of our salvation. Love is the proof of our salvation.

John 13:35 (NLT) - “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

John 15:9 (NLT) - “I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love.”

John 15:10 - “When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. “

John 15:12 (NLT) - “This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.”

John 15:17 (NLT) - “This is my command: Love each other.”

1 John 4:7-8 - (7) “Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. (8) But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”

Message? God’s love is the foundation of our salvation. Love is the proof of our salvation.

Jesus was abundantly clear in His messages that we are to love God and love others. In fact, our love for one another is the proof of our salvation in Jesus Christ. This is contrary to the kind of attacks that we see constantly in social media platforms, podcasts, commentaries, and videos that give free reign to hateful words and attitudes. This trend has shown up in “Christian” circles, and sometimes disguised as prophetic correction. Let’s call it what it is: Sin. The world watches on and laughs because we are acting just like the world. Jesus said (Matthew 22:37-40) the two greatest commandants are that we are to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and that we are to love others as ourselves. These are very simple standards by which to measure our thought life and actions. The lack of love in the saints serves to expose bitterness, unforgiveness, resentment, gossip, envy, jealousy, and outright hate. No one said it being a disciple of Jesus was going to be easy. The path to the cross - from His precarious birth to His death, burial, and resurrection - was not easy. But love kept Him focused on the outcome, salvation for those who received Him. God commands us to love. And He has provided us with the means to accomplish this every day: His grace. Remember that we walk by faith and not by sight

Day 3 of Fast N' Pray 2026

The plan for Day 3 of Fast N’ Pray 2026 - Here I am Lord!

Isaiah 6:8
Materials: Bible, notebook, pen or pencil, elements for Holy Communion (the Lord’s Supper). Fast whatever you agreed with the Lord to fast. For some it’s food, a favorite activity, social media, etc. Just be consistent. Set aside at least an hour, in the morning, or afternoon, or evening, for the session.
Be persuaded that God will protect you as you step out in obedience to Him.
Scriptures
Fast N’ Pray 2026 - Here I am Lord! - Day 3
Ephesians 6:12 (NLT) - “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”
Psalm 91 - All of it. 91:14-15 [a,b] (NLT)
Ephesians 6:16-18. (NLT)
Psalm 23:4 [a,b,c] (NKJV) - “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me;”
Faith is to trust God to do what He says He will do according to His word. We are not to fear, because He said He is with us. Believe it!
Ephesians: 6:13-18 (NLT)” Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
Psalm 91: 14-15 [a,b,] (NLT) - “The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer;”
Message? Faith during the coming times of trouble
Economic uncertainty, wars and rumors of wars, political upheaval, unusual signs and wonders - are all signs of the End Times (Matthew 24). The world is not going to “end,” but this age will come to a close, according to various scriptures in the Bible. To navigate through these times, the Lord knows we will need to understand and fully believe in His divine protection. Even getting through this week of fasting and prayer to draw nearer to God and hear from Him requires heaven’s help. In Ephesians, Chapter 6, we are reminded that our real enemies are not other people, the president or other politicians. The saints are targets of satanic attacks, which is why the Lord led Paul to explain in writing what we are up against and how to respond. Do not let the forces of darkness hinder you from turning to God for salvation and walking in the new life with Him. He has provided the tools for the battles we must fight; remember that Jesus has already won the war. No matter what happens, and much is going to happen this year, hang onto the Lord, pray over yourself, your loved ones, and the rest of the saints. Pray for the unsaved. Be a light to others.

I Will Not Fear - Spontaneous Worship - Meditation on Psalm 23

Day 2 of Fast N' Pray 2026

Fast N' Pray 2026

 Fast N' Pray 2026

Our Fast N' Pray for 2026 will take place Jan. 12-18, the fast ends on Jan. 18. I will be posting the scriptures and reflections each day next week. The collective fast is open to anyone. Some churches start off the year with a week (some do an entire month) of fasting and prayer. The participants will be praying for each others' petitions and needs. Fast whatever you decide - it's between you and the Lord. For some, it's meat, or sweets, or social media, or other. It's an ideal time for couples to support each other spiritually, or for siblings and parents and children to take part together and encourage one another in the Lord. What you will need: A Bible, a notebook, pen or pencil, elements for Communion (the Lord's Supper), and a prayerful attitude. Expect to hear from God!
- Shalom!
